MyTeamSafe what3words Integration

MyTeamSafe are extremely proud to announce that we have integrated with the amazing what3words location system and now provide what3words details throughout our lone worker safety system.

What is what3words?

what3words is a really simple way to talk about location.

They have assigned each 3m square in the world a unique 3 word address that will never change.

3 word addresses are easy to say and share, and are as accurate as GPS coordinates.

For example

51.520847,  -0.19552100 ←→ /// filled.count.soap

The above marks the exact entrance to what3words’ London headquarters.

How To Add what3words

what3words can now be added into your escalation messages using the special placeholder {gpsWhat3Words}. For example here's a  simple message:

{name} is late checking in, their last location was https://what3words.com/{gpsWhat3Words}

This will be output in to the escalation message like this:

Jamie Wilson is late checking in, their last location was https://what3words.com/filled.count.soap

Seeing & Hearing what3words

When the lone worker is late checking in the escalations are processed as normal.  When what3words are present the supervisor (or any other contact) can now see the what3words location in their SMS text message, email or push notification alerts.

A new feature is to hear the what3words via a voice call.  This is particularly useful for important escalations that you don't want the supervisor to miss.  It's harder to ignore an incoming call in contrast to an SMS  text message or email.

Please watch the video for a demonstration.

Auditing

MyTeamSafe will automatically log everything that happens during an active lone working session, capturing details such as

  • When the lone working session started
  • Check-ins
  • Panics
  • Notes (normal, warnings, urgent)
  • GPS locations
  • Escalations and associated messages
  • When the lone working session stopped

The audit of the escalation messages now includes any what3word locations and details about voice calls.

Typically escalations go to the lone workers supervisor, however you can always enter manually additional contact information to include other colleagues, family or even a Central 24/7 control room.

Act quickly

By combining what3words and voice calls you can increase the likely hood of action being taken quickly.  It is worth following up the voice call with an email, push notification or SMS message a minute or two later, just in case the person receiving the call didn't hear the three words fully, or has forgotten them.

You can ensure action is taken quickly and accurately. The voice call only needs to be brief as you should always follow up with a more detailed email just so nothing is misunderstood.
